Bangkok has been famous for several centuries for being a country where money goes a long way. And even though prices has started to get higher it is still one of the cheaper places in the world. And since it is a huge hub for many before departing elsewhere, it is also a shopping mecca.
Shopping in Bangkok is easy and effortless and you might just go home with more than you thought you ever needed. Here is our essential guide to shopping in Bangkok BBK, Thailand.
Most of us like to go shopping for fashion. Bangkok is the place to go to shop for big brands at discount prices. There are big luxury brands as well as luxury brand at heavy discounted prices. Not the real deal of course but many of the copies are of very good quality and if you browse in several shops you will most likely fond the qualite you are looking for.
MBK is a good starting point and the mall most tourists head to. With everything from souvenirs to professional photo gear and copy designer bags you won’t leave empty handed.
Siam Discovery and Siam Centre is a linked mall to the MBK mall and a part of the many Siam malls in the city. Siam Discovery is a more upscaled mall with both famous and infamous brands. Housing brands like Calvin Klein, Marc by Marc Jacobs and North Face it is a popular shopping mall to stroll around in a get a coffee.
Siam Paragon. The O so luxurious mall with Brands like Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and H&M. If you are looking for a specific upscaled brand then you will most likely fond it here.
Terminal 21 is a 6 Floor shopping mall with themes from different countries like Japan and United States. They also have a foodcourt that is to die for. Just next to the Asok MRT station is it a not further away from the
Central world is not far from the rest of the Siam malls and Mbk with a few minuters walking distance. The mall has a food court with many well known companies and an ice rink if you like to kick of tour shoes and get skating. They also house one of the rare TopShop stores and Miss Selfridge stores in Bangkok.
Emporium mall is a bit off in comparison to the Siam Paragon and MBK bit known for its trendy shops and range of brands.
We love markets. Not only because you can find almost anything here. But because of the social atmosphere and the prices are lower than in most stores for the same goods.
Chatuchak weekend market is the largest market in Thailand where you can find just about everything from pet supplies to clothes and home furnishing. It has become the “must do” while in Bangkok and is literally a “shop until you drop” experience.
Yaowarat market, or China town market, is like a city on its own. There is a market I China town but we would say the whole Chinatown is like a big market. You will find something new and exiting around every corner. Every ally more interesting than the other. The smallest walkways holds the most interesting things.
Outdoor gear and technical products
We travel around with a selection of photo equipment. And traveling around the globe for three years require clothing for outdoors but our clothes and gear also needs updating and replacing once in a while.
We have found that the best places to hunt for outdoor gear is MBK where they have many shops selling outdoor hear and backpacks. Siam Discovery has North Face and a few outdoor stores as well.
If you need photo equipment or want to shop for electronics then Pantip Plaza has several floors for just Camera and computers. MBK has a photo level on 5th floor and some also on 4th floor.
