A four Island tour in Krabi and Ao Nang, Thailand
Are you looking for something fun to do in Krabi and Ao Nang? Look no further and go on a four island tour.
A four island tour is a one day tour packed with four destinations. Four beaches in one day.
We did a four island tour including Chicken island and Railay. We were picked up at our hotel at 8 in the morning and dropped off at the Ao Nang Pier.
Your booking agency or hotel might tell you it is a speedboat tour but usually it is a long tail boat with a bigger engine. Do not expect a smaller yacht.
After being boarded we headed to the first beach where we got one hour to enjoy the clear blue water and the perfect white sand.
There are a lot of tourists here since all agents have their first stop here.
The hour goes by pretty quick and then it is time for the next destination. This time Chicken island where the main attraction is to dive in and snorkel with a herd of bright, colorful fish. We were lucky because some tourist had brought bread to feed the fish so we had more the fun to share when the herd came straight at us. Snorkel gear is provided by the tour agency on board.
After a good 40 minute acquainting with the fish we went around the island where we could watch rock climbing. Leonardo even dared to try. Next stop for lunch was a beautiful coral beach with the classic Thai limestone pillars shooting up from the water, clear blue water and a nice chicken stew and rice lunch provided by the guides.
We had an hour on this beach. Monkeys playing in the trees or with tourists, everyone playing in the water. It was idyllic.
Our last stop, which was Railay beach, was even more impressive. They really saved the best for last. Nor only did we have the limestone pillars, food boats, and caves. There were also an island you could walk over to for some exploration.
But the main event seemed to be the cave temple at the end of the beach. The “Penis temple”. That’s correct, a temple filled to the rim with wooded penises which is supposed to stand for strength and protection.
We got a perfect one and a half hour in Railay before it was time to go home.
At the pier back in Ao Nang at four in the afternoon we had transportation waiting to take us back to the hotel.
A perfect day out!
Four island tours are one of the most common tours in Krabi and Ao Nang. Pock an agency or hotel where you are comfortable with the person selling you the tour. If it is a hotel owner you have talked to a few times for example. They might be able to offer you a good price. A tour should not cost more than 1200 Thai Baht.
