Dauin – Marine sanctuary and amazing snorkeling an diving , Central Visayas, Philippines

If you are in Dumaguete waiting to get else where or just relaxing in the city. Why not head over to Dauin?

Dauin is just a 15 minute ride with jeepney and you’ll have the most spectacular scene for marine activities and marine wildlife.

The village of Dauin might not be much by the first look. Sure, they have a market and some wide stretched beaches. But it does not look like it has much on offer.

But Dauin has some of the best places in the world for snorkeling and diving. Just a few meteres from the shoreline you have a waste marine sanctuary with some of the most preserved coral reefs in the country. Wild sea turtles swim here together with triggerfish, parrotfish and other curious reef fish.

There are many guesthouses and resorts that offers diving lessons and diving day-outsaswell as gear for snorkeling.

If you would like to take a part of this beautiful reef all you need to do is get a hold of some gear from one of the hotels or guesthouses, pay the environmental fee and snorkel away.

Please keep in mind that it is a protected natural treasure and should be regarded as such. Do not take souvenirs or chase the fish or turtles.

A good place for accommodation is Bongo Bongo divers which can be found just by the beach. They provide shared bathroom bungalows and nice company from 350.000 Rupiah\ night. They also have snorkeling gear for hire for 150.000 Rupiah \day. They also provide diving courses.
